As our school community celebrates Harvest this term, we have been reflecting on the importance of gratitude, kindness and helping others. In a recent assembly, we explored what Harvest means, learned about the vital work of food banks, and discussed why our school proudly supports the local food bank in Epsom & Ewell each year.
While Harvest is traditionally a time to give thanks for the food we have, it is also an opportunity to think about those who may be facing difficult circumstances. Many individuals and families in our local area continue to experience financial hardship due to ongoing cost-of-living pressures. For some, putting food on the table can be a daily challenge.
As Diversity, Faith and Philosophy Lead, I am always inspired by the compassion shown by our children and families. One of the values we nurture in school is looking beyond ourselves and recognising how small acts of kindness can make a significant difference. A simple donation can help provide comfort, dignity and hope to someone who needs support.
We would be very grateful if families who are able to do so would consider donating an item for our Harvest collection. We understand that not everyone is in a position to give, and we appreciate support in whatever form it comes. There is absolutely no expectation for every family to donate.
Please ensure all donations are sealed, well within their use-by or best-before dates, and do not require refrigeration.

Every item collected will help support local people through challenging times and remind them that they are not alone. Thank you for helping us demonstrate the values of generosity, empathy and community spirit that make our school such a special place.
